What I'd do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! Cities and Headquarters

What I’d do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! You've woken up with superpowers, you have a costume, a name, and depending on your preference, weapons. Now it’s time to discuss the city you’ll work from and the headquarters you’ll use.
This one won’t really have much to do with powers. Sure, if you can fly you can get to a spot that’s high up, or some other power that would allow you could dig a big hole, but generally it’s going to be what you can get. Unless, of course you’re on Forbes List.
If you have a power that allows for transportation (teleportation, flight, speed) you can work wherever you can reach. You could zip around the country doing good everywhere you go.
Cities: I would not suggest working in the city you live in unless it is a large city. If you live in the suburbs or a small town you will probably have to commute to do a lot of good. I’m not saying that there isn’t a crime in a small town, but I don’t know that there’s enough crime for a superhero. But, if you love your hometown and want to do everything within your newfound powers to protect it, go for it. There are plenty of cities in the world that have high crime rates.
If you do work in the same city you want to protect make sure you don’t advertise where your base is. If a villain knows exactly where to find you while you sleep you may as well get ready for some property damage. And if you have a family that could be extremely bad.
You don’t have to confine yourself to a specific city either. As I said before, if you can move fast you can cover a large area. The more people you help as a hero the better. We all know the old adage, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
Headquarters: If you have money you can buy any type of headquarters you want. If, like me, you don’t have a lot of money you have to work with what you have. Please, please don’t store your gear in your house. I know they do it in the comics, but that seems to be an amateur move. With the tracking technology out there it wouldn’t be hard for someone to track you down if you change in your house and then go outside.
My advice is to maybe keep a spare costume at your home for “Just in case” circumstances. It would be smarter to store several costumes throughout your city; storage lockers, bus stations, a gym, anywhere you don’t regularly visit. Keeping several caches of gear will allow you to be ready when something goes down. You could keep one in your vehicle, but you’d better have a storage area that no one can just stumble upon by accident.
If you can survive in space, withstand artic temperatures, breath underwater, or open a dimensional rift to a pocket universe of your very own, do it. Just be aware of the dangers associated with each of those locations.
And that’s what I’d do for my area of operations and my headquarters if I woke up with superpowers. Thanks for joining me for What I’d do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! Join me next time to see for a discussion on secret identities, who to tell, who not to tell, and why I think it’s a good idea to have one.
