What I'd do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! Names

What I’d do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! So you’ve woken up with superpowers, and thanks to my previous post on what I’d do, you’ve picked out a costume. Next you’ll want to pick a name. Like picking your costume picking your name will have, at least, something to do with your powers.

Now if you remember we’re focusing on becoming a hero for the time being. I’ll start out the same way and in the same order so everyone can keep up.

Super Strength: For this powerset you are going to want something strong, powerful, and in-line with your personality. Just make sure you don’t use a name from a comic company. That could lead to a lawsuit if you aren’t careful. Now if you want to use a moniker that includes a military rank make sure you remember this. And if you’re in the military the punishment could be worse. Like I said before, I’d go with something powerful, something like Titan. It sounds cool, if a bit generic, but it’s a good starting point.

Flight: For this I’d pick something that sounds majestic. I mean even the lamest birds look majestic and noble when they’re flying through the air. You could even pick the name of a bird. Don’t go for something obvious like “The Eagle,” but you could pick something along those lines.

Super Speed: There are two things that pop into my mind when I think of super speed; scientific formulae and big cats. So if you combine the two you could come up with a winner. “Quantum Cheetah” is not a winner though don’t use that.

Fire Manipulation: Fire, heat, smoke, flame…there are enough synonyms here that you can work out something for this.

Energy Manipulation: This one is going to be tougher than the others. You could have it relate to the energy that you can control, “Chemiaction” or the reaction that your powers create “Bombastic.” Or you could make up a pseudo scientific term, such as “Quantum King.” The ball, and its potential energy, is in your hands.

Regeneration: You could really have fun with this one. If your powers allow you to come back from almost death, you could name your self “The Undying Defender of the Innocent!” That would really freak the bad guys out and give them reason to avoid you. (Especially if they shoot you in the head a few times and you come back.)

Miscellaneous: If you’ve got one of the powers I listed last time, telekinesis, telepathy, magic, etc. you can call yourself whatever you like. Most of the people in the comics are either doctors or professors. Though impersonating a doctor can lead to problems as well. Even superheroes can be brought up on charges.

Those are my ideas for a superhero name. Make sure you choose something that reflects your personality as well as your powers. The choice is yours and you could always change it, but wouldn’t you rather start with a good name? For those of you who are lazy, not very creative, or just need some help there are several name generators you could use. One of my favorites is this one.
