What I'd do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! Weapons

What I’d do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! You’ve woken up with superpowers. If you’ve followed my advice you have a costume and a name and you’re ready to get out there and fight crime. That’s what you think anyway. There are a lot of other things you need to take into account before you go gallivanting around trouncing villains.
This topic is going to be a bit controversial; weapons. You may like weapons, you may not, but they could be a good idea for someone fighting the good fight. Just make sure anything you have is legal and you use your weapons responsibly. I know not all heroes have weapons, but there are some situations that weapons could have helped. I’m all for being prepared and having a weapon when you don’t need one is better than needing one and not having one.
DISCLAIMER: I do not condone the use of weapons except in the defense of yourself, your family, or innocent people. DO NOT go out with a weapon and act like law enforcement. This is purely fictional and you will make law enforcement’s job even harder than it already is. If you are not a member of law enforcement and do not have superpowers DO NOT take the law into your own hands.
Super Strength: You can never go wrong with a classic, i.e. a BFH! (That’s Big Freaking Hammer). But seriously, who knows where to get a war hammer? Most superheroes with this powerset usually just use their fists, elbows, knees, feet…. but melee weapons would be a good choice. You could put a lot of power behind one of those weapons. You might want to look into getting something with some range on it as well though. Most of the weapons that superheroes use have both melee and ranged capabilities. You don’t want a bad guy getting away because you can’t reach them.
Flight: Definitely need a ranged weapon for this powerset, I mean if you’re going to have the high ground you may as well use it. There are plenty of non-lethal weapons you could check out. Or you could go old school and use a bow and arrows. If your only power is flight don’t try anything crazy. Taking a knife to a superpower fight is just going to get you killed.
Super Speed: I’d go with a blade for if I had super speed. You can cause damage without much chance of getting hurt and if you’re good you can avoid permanently injuring your opponent, whoever they may be. Or you could use a boxing glove and hit someone at 200 mph. Unless your opponent is invulnerable they’re going to feel that.
Fire Manipulation: Unless you’re underwater or in space (somewhere that doesn’t have oxygen and/or negates your powers) your powers are your weapons. But, in case you do find your powers negated carry something to protect yourself; a knife, a stun gun, something, anything so you aren’t without in a time of need.
Energy Manipulation: Same as Fire. Protect yourself before you wreck yourself.
Regeneration: I’m kind of biased with this powerset, a certain Merc with a Mouth happens to be one of my favorite comic characters. As with the others you’re going to want something for melee and a ranged weapon. Choose wisely.
Miscellaneous: I can’t say it enough times; if you are putting your life on the line to save and protect others you need to protect yourself. This section has been my catch all, mostly for the Dues Ex Machina of the comic book world, but powers fail. If you aren’t protecting yourself all the time you could find yourself without at a very bad time.
Now I’ve been around weapons as long as I can remember. My parents and grandparents are all gun owners. My father is an avid bow hunter. I collect swords and I’m not a half bad shot with a bow myself. If you do wake up with superpowers and want to try your hand at being a hero make sure you take classes for whatever weapon you choose.
Heroes shouldn’t be above the law they should enforce it, so if you carry a firearm get it registered. If you choose a melee weapon take martial arts and learn about your preferred weapon. Whatever you do, do it safely and within the legal system. Don’t go messing with things you don’t understand and get others hurt.
And that’s what I’d do for weapons if I woke up with superpowers. Thanks for joining me again for What I’d do if I woke up with SUPERPOWERS! Next time well be discussing city and headquarters so be sure to tune in.
